RV Storage Kelowna

If you have recently bought an RV, you may be asking yourself a lot of questions about what is needed to rent a storage stall.

With winter on the horizon, it is time to start thinking about storing the summer toys and make room at home for winter fun. There are some considerations to take in when you are thinking about where to store your recreational vehicle. Let us take a look at your storage options, how to prep your RV for storage, and answer some questions!

Types of RV Storage

There are only two types of storage you can rent - indoor or outdoor. While they are both great options while living in the Okanagan with our mild winters; There may be an option that is better suited for your budget or the model of your RV.

Indoor Storage:

When you rent an indoor storage stall to park your RV for the winter, you can expect that your recreational vehicle will be safe from theft and damage. Most storage facilities in Kelowna offer 24-hour surveillance to put your mind at ease. Another perk is that there is a good chance that it will be heated or have climate control. That means you will not have to worry about completely winterizing your RV but prep it for sitting for up to six months.

Outdoor Storage:

This option is more economical because you can store it at home, a family member, or at a storage facility that offers outdoor RV storage. The vehicle will be exposed to the elements, which means that you will need to winterize your RV so that the water lines do not freeze and burst. Search for a seasonal storage facility in Kelowna that offers security, a lighted parking lot, and flexible hours of operation to access your recreational vehicle.

How To Prepare Your Trailer For Storage

After determining your storage needs, it is time to get your trailer ready to be stored over the winter months.

  • Before taking it to the storage facility in the Okanagan, it is important to winterize your RV to ensure that your lines do not freeze.
  • Close all of your blinds to protect the furniture from sun damage.
  • Ensure all of your vents are closed to prevent bugs and pests from getting inside.
  • Using an RV cover will protect the roof and paint.
  • Clean out the fridge, remove your clothing, and add moisture-absorbing packages to prevent mold and mildew. You will thank yourself in the Spring!

Take the time to get your trailer cleaned out, take it in for a service, and visit your local RV Dealer to get everything inspected. The more care you take now, the less you will have to worry about in the future.
